FMP - SECTION 2 // learning, drawing 3D Design & Refinement of Environment in Sketchup

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT & REFINEMENT OF DRAWINGS:

1. A side project to design dog bed & Bowl for 3D space. This was done to keep learning software and for a job application. But I thought I would put it here to show the development of homeware I designed for the 3D space.

Refinement of 3D area

EVALUATION AND SUM UP OF AREA

I felt that this area was my biggest risk that I have taken throughout my whole creative degree, I could have stuck to what I was comfortable with, but I wanted to push and challenge myself. I found it incredibly hard to learn SketchUp as it was a very different style of work too what I am normally used too with is hand-drawn illustration, branding and photography.  This allowed me to build up my subject knowledge with 3D drawing, allowing me to understand the workflow, which means next time I do a 3D project that I will do in my professional practice I will be able to carry it out faster and to a higher standard.

However, in this area, I did underestimate how hard 3D rendering in Vray was. The area that I created was very hard as it was a green house structure and it was an outside and inside, meaning that the light would fall from very hard angles. I spoke to my tutor and they said for the project I was doing in the industry, Sketchup drawing was fine to demonstrate my ideas. However, I am determined to learn Vray when I have more time to start simple and build up to something complicated like this model.
